About The Dollar Drop
The Problem
California made financial literacy a graduation requirement with AB 2927. But passing a law is not the same as solving a problem. The mandate is statewide, yet curriculum development happens locally, across hundreds of districts each building and updating their own materials. The likely result is wide variation in quality, where the financial education a student receives depends on the resources of the district they happen to attend.
Our Solution
The Dollar Drop was built to close that gap. It's a centralized, technology-driven platform that preserves local flexibility while holding every student to a consistent statewide standard. Rather than asking hundreds of districts to independently create and maintain financial literacy content, The Dollar Drop translates real-time economic developments — such as inflation, interest rates, housing affordability, student debt, and employment trends — into student-friendly lessons, visualizations, quizzes, and discussion prompts. The economy moves every day; so does the curriculum.
Our Mission
To make every student financially fluent and equipped — not just to earn money, but to build wealth and long-term financial security. Financial literacy shouldn't depend on the district you happen to attend or the resources you were born into. Every student deserves to start building it now.
